The best grocery stores in Canada were revealed and a discount chain is the top choice

Canadians have revealed what the best grocery stores in Canada are right now.

You might not expect which discount chain took the top spot in this ranking.

Narcity recently posted on Facebook and asked, “What do you think is the best grocery store in Canada?”

There have been over 200 comments so far, with more than 20 retailers named as Canada’s best.

According to Canadians, the best grocery store in Canada is No Frills.

That’s because there are cheaper prices and better deals.

The discount chain is followed closely by Costco, which is in second place.

Then, Real Canadian Superstore and Farm Boy are tied for third, FreshCo, Walmart and Food Basics are tied for fourth, and Sobeys is fifth.

Even though these didn’t get as many comments as the top five, a lot of Canadians said the retailers are Canada’s best grocery stores:

After that, a few people said Giant Tiger and Save On Foods are the best grocery stores in Canada.

Loblaws, Co-op, Super C, Whole Foods, Dollarama, Fortinos, Your Independent Grocer, Adonis and Maxi only got one comment each.

A lot of Canadians said that the best places to get groceries are local shops and farms, not chain stores.

However, quite a few people said that it depends on prices and what products you need.

“You have to shop around or you’ll pay top price if you don’t,” someone commented.

“I don’t have any loyalty. I look at the flyers and buy what’s on sale for that week,” another person said.

Someone else commented that the best grocery store in Canada is “whichever has the best deals each week.”

Also, a few people said there are no best grocery stores because prices are too expensive, and most stores are owned by the same companies.

Earlier this year, Narcity asked Canadians what their favourite grocery stores are and what Canada’s best cheap grocery stores are. No Frills made the top three in both of those rankings, too.

Costco, Superstore and Farm Boy were top choices as well.

If you’re wondering where people don’t shop, Narcity also asked Canadians to share which grocery stores they avoid, and Loblaws wasn’t the number one spot!
